Matobos National Park
The Matobo National Park forms the core of the Matobo or Matopos Hills, an area of granite kopjes and wooded valleys commencing some 35 kilometres south of Bulawayo, southern Zimbabwe.The national park is the oldest in Zimbabwe, established in 1926 as Rhodes Matopos National Park, a bequest from Cecil Rhodes
Amalinda Lodge
This exclusive, privately owned safari lodge is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the MatoboHills, the oldest National Park in Zimbabwe. The granite domes and castle kopjes echo the essence oftranquillity and majesty of untamed Africa, where wildlife and birdlife species thrive in prolific numbers.
There are Mostly small antelope, however,the Matopos has one of the highestconcentrations of leopard in SouthernAfrica, as well as white and black rhino aswell as rock hyrax and a vast array ofbirdlife such as the black eagle.
The lodges are set within the granite boulderson different levels and each have a distinctivelook and feel.
There are 9 lodges in totalcomprising of 3 suites, 3 family rooms (with 2double beds in each), 2 double rooms and 1twin room.Amalinda's lodges all have electric blanketsfor the winter season. Each room has anen-suite bathroom built into the granite rockface, giving a unique accommodationexperience. Tea and Nespresso coffeestations come standard in each room.
Shashani Lodge
Situated on a private game reserve only a short drive away from Plumtree and approximately an hour’s drive from Bulawayoon the border of Matobo National Park. Ancient rock paintings and a historical grain-bin site are a morning’s stroll away. You can watch manyspecies of plains game from the lodge.
10 individual en-suite lodges are spaced widely on the edge of a huge rock dome with views over a wooded valley and the characteristicMatobo granite hills. All rooms are comfortably furnished and have private verandas.
The main building has a comfortable lounge and bar with adjoining dining room, all open-fronted towards the breathtaking view. A largefireplace takes the chill out of winter evenings.
